Our Local and Global Impact

Local

Our mission is to provide hearing healthcare to individuals in our local community who are not able to afford it on their own while providing them opportunities to give back to the community through the giving circle model. Our vision is by improving their quality of life by providing them affordable hearing healthcare and allowing the recipient to give back to the community through providing their own services to any nonprofit of their choice and gain a greater purpose while doing so. This unique Circle of Giving model provides our patients the opportunity to give back to the community through volunteer hours.

Our promise is to maintain the integrity of those we serve and help them to live their best life through better hearing and a commitment to community service.

We use a reduced fee schedule to make hearing healthcare affordable for individuals and families with incomes up to 250% of the federal poverty levels.

Meet Edward Parr

Edward Parr is an 88 year old retired patient with hearing loss for more than 25 years. Mr. Parr has bilateral, severe to profound hearing loss and is blind in both eyes.

As the years went by, he became ill and his medical expenses piled up. One day, a fire started in on his stove and he lost all his belongings including his hearing aids. Because of our resources, we were able to provide him

with new hearing aids and ear molds at a greatly reduced cost due to HearAide’s reduced fees and sliding scale fee.

And his extended family personally provided service hours in his name to complete his commitment to giving back to the community to fulfill his volunteer hours and Parr was able to start his life again with sound. A happy ending to a hearing smile,

"I am so happy, my heart is smiling and I haven't had a reason to smile in a long time. I was lost without my old hearing aids, I feel

born again. You have given my life back."

Parr is remarkably independent and still lives alone with assistance from roommate and his extended family who live near him.

International

Our long-term goal is to sustain the program by networking, developing relationships with the local on the ground partners to ensure the continuous of the clinical services.

Sustaining the program starts from day one with our local partners on the ground as we learn the needs and importantly making sure the cultural difference is considered.

As time is spent there we are able to importantly fundraise for needs in such as clinical equipment, training staff and strive for grants to support a future clinic in their community.

Empowering the community is long-term goal of HearAide, to create sustainable hearing healthcare. This includes educating the local audiologist or equivalent individual to assist them in the creation of a local hearing healthcare clinic to include funding for equipment and continual training as needed.

Meet Mohammed from Bethlehem

Mohammed, who now resides in the Dheisheh refugee camp, suffered from hearing loss at an early age when a bombing destroyed his family home. When our teams began to fit him with hearing aids, his parents broke down crying- their son's ability to understand and dignity restored after years of impairment. A smile grew on his face the moment he could hear again.

In developing areas in and surrounding Jordan, the West Bank, and Lebanon, there is an increased significance of hearing loss caused by war and lack of appropriate healthcare.
